Allen Gumpenberger, Director of Veterans Disability Advocacy
Allen Gumpenberger is an experienced former Veterans Service Officer who has been advocating for veterans for over 16 years.
Gumpenberger, a disabled veteran, served in the Navy as a paralegal from 1994 to 1996. During that time, Gumpenberger received a Certificate of Commendation from the Regional Physical Evaluation Board for his legal service to disabled sailors, marines and their families, and for his compassion and dedication in obtaining the best possible result on their behalf.
Following his military service, he worked for a well-known veterans service organization preparing and prosecuting veterans claims before various Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regional offices and the Board of Veterans Appeals. He brings his expertise to Alpha where he continues to build on his successful reputation in securing benefits for our nation’s disabled veterans and their survivors.
Note: All representation coordinated by Alpha is provided by our employees, the Advocates, who are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). No private organization that trains and employs accredited agents has been legally recognized by the VA for the purposes of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims. This work must be done by the Advocates themselves and not organizations.
This has been the most helpful web site I’ve come across. I have been helping my disabled friends that had been military men for several years. I at least consider myself an advocate for them. Great injustices have always been done to our service men and women. I am enraged by the things I see. I am loving to be a part of it.
I am very encouraged by this article. I have been disheartened by the way my case has been handled by the VA admin., so much that I tried to kill myself last March. I was worn down because of their resistance! Very confused because my VA Doctors diagnosed me with PTSD and ruled me as unemployable, but Admin. only has me at 30%. I am counting on Alpha to rectify my situation.
Thanks,
Phil
I want to THANK Alpha for all of their hard work. I’m a 23 year retired disabled veteran on the PDRL. I tried several veteran organizations to get my ZERO percent entitlement over turned ( i.e. VFW, DAV, American Legion) and of course VA. IAVA is not worth mentioning. I was ‘spinning my wheels’ with ‘DC BS’ until I wised up and found John March with ALPHA. It took me 4 years to realize that veteran organizations have too many on their ‘backlog’ and they don’t want to ‘Bite the Hand’ that gives them money each year ( the government ). Don’t waste your time, these days you need to ‘Lawyer UP’.
Within 3 months I received my disability, and now Alpha is going after the 4.5 years of back pay that is owed to me by Uncle Sam. Don’t let anyone deceive you into thinking that the government (VA) will eventually do RIGHT in your case without legal represenation. Those days are long gone. Special Interest groups don’t care about veterans.
No sir! Get ALPHA to represent you!
For many years I suffered with PTSD, and didn’t know why I often felt so crazy. Then during a reunion of guys from my combat unit, in 2002, I learned about PTSD, and the post-war impact it, also, has had on my comrades in arms. I asked the Disabled Amercan Veterans to file a claim for me for PTSD issues. The VA assessment acknowledged that I have PTSD, but the VA only assigned a low value to it. Then the DAV refiled for full Unemployability, due to my PTSD issues, which was granted by the VA. But, after being on Individual Unemployability for only a couple of years, the VA reviewed the same information and reneged on having granted my IU status. On appeal, my case dragged on and on, with the DAV doing all that they could, but getting nowhere. Then I heard about AlphaDisability and made Alpha my disability advocate. Alpha has been pursuing the Veterans Administration ever since, trying to get my formerly approved IU status permanently reinstated. This is a tortuous process, dealing with the VA, and I wholly sympathize with and understand the rage and frustration of my fellow veterans who have been forced to grovel before the VA, and have had to hire attorneys, as I have, in order to get the VA to do right by us. It has been almost a year and a half since AlphaDisability has taken over my case, and they are pursuing it with the appeals court as I write. May God have mercy on us all.
