VA Field Guide to Government Shutdown

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has prepared a Veterans Field Guide to Government Shutdown that outlines what services will be impacted if a federal government shutdown should happen.

Veterans will be able to access all medical services. Also there will be no impact to receiving disability compensation and other benefits.  Compensation claims-processing will also not be impacted.

However, VA call centers, hotlines and other national phone numbers will be suspended.  Also, there will be no decisions made on claims appeals by the Board of Veterans Appeals and no processing of new compensation and pension benefits.

Please refer to the Veterans Field Guide to Government Shutdown  for a complete list of services that will be impacted by a government shutdown.

Note: All representation coordinated by Alpha is provided by our employees, the Advocates, who are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). No private organization that trains and employs accredited agents has been legally recognized by the VA for the purposes of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims. This work must be done by the Advocates themselves and not organizations.
